Introducing Merlin the Dog in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 Season 5

Jun 09, 2023

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 are gearing up for season 5, and one particular addition has caught the attention of players – Merlin the dog. The operator Arthur will have the privilege of strapping Merlin to his belt, offering the unique advantage of companionship throughout the game.

Merlin, a handsome and well-groomed canine, boasts a sleek black coat, a Secret Service earpiece, and captivating brown eyes. Not only does he look dapper, but he also possesses a sense of style that wouldn’t be out of place in a game like Death Stranding.

In addition to his appearance, Merlin has his own finishing move, demonstrated in the BlackCell season 5 trailer. This debonair killing machine won’t be the only pet introduced in Modern Warfare 2, as the blog post mentions the possibility of other tactical pets. Perhaps cats will have a more prominent role in the future, despite their notorious indifference towards humans.

It’s important to note that Merlin and other furry companions cannot be harmed on the battlefield. This acknowledgment is a relief, as nobody wants to witness any harm befalling these adorable creatures. In fact, players may even refrain from shooting at opponents who have Merlin alongside them.

However, an unanswered question remains: What happens to these Tactical Companions when their operator dies? Do they retreat to spend time with other animals? Or do they continue to wreak havoc, acting as invincible killing machines that multiply with every respawn? Activision has been contacted for further clarification on this matter.

The launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 season 5 is set for August 2, spanning across multiplayer, DMZ, and Warzone 2.0. Players eagerly await the chance to team up with Merlin and experience the benefits of his loyal companionship on the battlefield.
